Our Approach
We act as a thought partner to school/district leadership to develop governance structures, form collaborative partnerships, establish frameworks to meet goals, and develop methods to collect data.
Community schools involve many stakeholders with different, sometimes conflicting opinions. NCCS leads a collaborative process and helps leadership stay focused on the identified challenges and goals.
Over the years of a school’s transition, programs and services that meet the needs of the whole child are introduced. NCCS is there for every milestone.

We have a vision of thriving students and 30 years of real-world experience operating community schools.
We are uniquely positioned to help you build them from initial planning to long-term sustainability.
NCCS promotes adaptation, not replication. What makes community schools a better educational environment is that they address the strengths and challenges of each community. Designing them takes commitment, clear-eyed assessment of needs, dedication, collaboration, and advocacy.

Facilitation
We provide in-person and virtual opportunities for continuous learning, networking, and inspiration.
Several conferences and institutes annually provide community school leaders the opportunity to learn about the most recent research, as well as public policies that fund and influence the design of community schools.
Leadership
NCCS is a founding member of the Coalition for Community Schools and a leader in the movement.
The coalition advocates for funding and a comprehensive national strategy to transform schools.
We provide our expertise on community schools to Congress, the Department of Education, State Legislatures, federal and state agencies, The Brookings Institute and other research organizations.
Coaching
Coaching emphasizes accountability and supports leaders in building the capacity they need to keep moving their work forward.
We offer community school leaders personalized guidance that strengthens their capacity to drive system-level change with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Through structured reflection and strategic support, community school staff deepen their leadership practice, align school and community priorities, and cultivate conditions where students can thrive.
